My batik art is exclusively created using the traditional, old-fashioned Batik technique, and I offer large pieces designed to cover entire walls.

As a standard practice, my Batik Art Paintings are sold in cloth form without a frame. Here are some framing suggestions:

1. Stretch the batik over a wooden frame and attach it to a decorative frame.

2. Place the batik between protective glass for a two-sided display.

3. Position the batik between glass to use it as a table centerpiece, similar to a rectangular or square plate.

Batik art is made from cotton fabric, which serves as the canvas and must undergo a delicate and intricate process of waxing, dyeing, and boiling. Wax is used to block colors during the dyeing process. Each area of the fabric that should remain a specific color must be covered in wax. This labor-intensive process includes several steps: preparing the cloth, tracing the designs, stretching the fabric on a frame, waxing the areas that don’t need dyeing, preparing the dye, dipping the cloth in the dye, boiling the cloth to remove the wax, and finally washing it in a soap and salt solution to ensure the colors are set.

All of my batiks are original creations. Batik is an ancient art form that is over 3,000 years old, involving painting wax onto fabric and then submerging it in dye. Wherever the wax is applied, the fabric resists the dye, creating unique patterns. Each color requires a separate application of wax and dye, using traditional tjanting tools.

Over the years, I have experimented with various modern dyes to achieve quality and vibrant colors. I leave a black border around the art to provide flexibility for your display method. The framing options I recommend include both wall art and table centerpieces. Many of my batiks are also combined with quilting or used as table runners. I have several pieces displayed in bank and office lobbies, where they can be viewed as people come and go, suspended between glass.
